HSSE

Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)

The corporate Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Department in Hamburg develops guidelines and minimum requirements for all subsidiaries. Performance is benchmarked to achieve continuous improvement. Our HSSE Policy commits us to preventing all accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses as well as to protecting the environment. As a result, we continuously optimize all of our subsidiaries’ activities with a view to technical, organizational, and behavior-based safety and promote a proactive safety culture.

The development of thorough HSSE guides that are especially suited to the various operational units is one important step, and it serves as the foundation for the sites’ development of suitable local management systems.

A worldwide incident database is a key resource for incident-based learning. All accidents, incidents, near misses, and dangerous behaviors and situations are recorded and thoroughly examined in order to stop them from happening again. HSSE warnings are prepared, sent to the appropriate locations, and discussed with our staff if needed.

Internal HSSE audits are conducted and comprehensive HSSE statistics with “leading” (forward-looking) and “lagging” (retrospective) KPIs are examined in order to track adherence to our internal standards.

Employee education and training is another key component of our endeavor to carry out our business operations in a way that is safe, healthy, and environmentally friendly. Before beginning work or visiting, new hires, contractors, and guests are given HSSE training.
